Alexandria TS #4

This afternoon I went to observe Shanti tutor David. I arrived early only to find that the both of them had already started on math homework. David got easily distracted by my presence as I quickly said hello. Shanti had to explain to him that I was just observing, and that I was the last person to observe. He then continued on with his math homework, and I thought that it was great that Shanti was willing to help him with it. It took quite sometime to get the work done, but when David finished it Shanti awarded him with some candy. She then introduced him the new book that they would be reading, which was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She asked him to draw what he thought would happen in the book, and the two of them began to draw. I thought drawing before reading the book was a great idea because it allowed David to take a break from Math. David only manged to get through one chapter because he was having trouble reading the book. Shanti plans to help him read the book next session, and expand his vocabulary with the game apples to apples.
