Bria CO #2

I observed a speaking class where the students were doing formal presentations. The students were quiet when another student was presenting and applauded after the student was finished. The teacher was not afraid to use his outdoor voice in order to get the students to listen. During this class, I learned a few things about teaching. Cover up the clock. This way the students will not focus on when the class will end. Bring your laptop to class. It is a great way to have the outline and rubric for the presentation in front of you in order to check and grade the students. It is also a faster way to write down mistakes that the students made and a faster way to write down feedback. Save the questions for later. This way everyone that has to present that day can present. Wait until everyone has presented in order to give feedback but still give the students their grades. This way everyone has a fair chance when they present because the students who have not presented cannot use the feedback to fix their presentations. Above all, patience is a virtue. Unexpected things are going to happen. Just go with the flow.
