My first child tutoring meeting was very exciting experience for me. Although, I was little nervous at the beginning, it went well. She is five years old and very clever girl talented in reading. I provided some materials to diagnose her level. She also had a lot of reading books with her. At the beginning, she seemed unwilling to do anything. In order to engage her, I asked her what she liked to do then she chose one of her book with reluctantly without any verbal expression. Her intension was to read a book however she did not seem very excited when reading rather she seemed to finish the book immediately and leave. After finishing the reading, in order to give her some enjoyment I gave her coloring sheet and pencils. We did some coloring exercises. After these activities I have noticed that she seemed more engaged. In this meeting I realized that it is very important to draw tutee’s attention especially when you are tutoring a child.
