O'Neill TS #2

I tutored Hamoud Sunday afternoon. We met at All Saints cafe. He brought his vocab along with him and we reviewed the words and meanings. I knew that although this method is educational, it isn't sustainable, so I told him I would bring a list of Latin beginning, middle and ending parts he can use to identify meaning within words. We got into conversation after reviewing the vocab. We discussed the results to an exam he took a few weeks ago. He says he took the exam for advancement and it concludes where he can go to university based on his score. He told me he had difficulty with the reading and writing, so we concluded that next lesson I would bring in some reading material we can review together to test level of comprehension as well as pronunciation. After an hour of reviewing English, he asked me if I would like to learn Arabic. So he started teaching me a few words and phrases. As we went through the words, he was focusing on my pronunciation. When we were done, we reviewed anything written in his notebook and I made sure to check and correct his pronunciation when needed. We both found this very helpful. I didn't realize, but by having him teach me, I could better teach him. We made a joke of it.
