Bria TS #5

My tutee had a lot of questions to ask and a lot of assignments that he wanted to work on during this session. One question that my tutee asked me was if I had any advice about how to quickly write down what the instructor is saying. I advised him to shorten the words or use symbols to represent a word in order to write faster. I also told him that if he does this and his instructor wants what he has written, he should make sure that he goes back over his sentences in order to write out the entire word and to check his spelling and grammar. In addition, one assignment that my tutee wanted to work on dealt with writing a paragraph about a topic. While going over this assignment, I learned that my tutee sometimes forgets to write down the verb or article. Due to this, I focused on his grammar and composition skills and on explaining the corrections that his instructor made. I also learned that I should have my laptop up and running in order to look up corrections that I cannot explain.
