I learned that my conversation partner is
from Kuwait, and that he is the oldest of seven kids. He has about 200 sheep
and 30 camels in Kuwait. He has only been in the United States for about two
months and needs to study English in order to pass the International English
Language Testing System (IELTS). He heard that the IELTS is easier than the
TOEFL. He has five years to study English and complete his major. During those
five years, he will only focus on studying English for a year, and then he will
work on his major for the other four years. Before being a student at CIES, he used
to be a student at the University of West Florida. However, he only stayed
there for about a month because he wanted to be with his cousins at CIES. He
likes to spend time with all of his cousins and lives with or near all of them.
He might go to the University of California after CIES, but he is not sure
about this because he wants to go wherever his cousins plan to go.
Bria, it sounds like you had an interesting experience with your conversation partner. Based on your CP's strong bond with his family, I think in the future I will focus on asking my conversation partners about their families and lives back home. Those are sure to be interests and passions for them, to which I think we can all relate in a way. Good job!
