The idea of a conversation partner was a little unusual at first, trying to meet up with someone that you have never met before, but it turned out to be a pretty enlightening experience. My partner's name is Enrique and he is from Colombia. I have studied Spanish for many years so we talked a lot about his difficulties learning English in comparison to my difficulties learning Spanish. We discussed some interesting differences in the language like how the word embarrassed in Spanish is almost always assumed to be embarazada for English speakers, when really it's the last word you want to use to say you're embarrassed. Enrique leads a very interesting life and it was nice to meet someone new and hear their life experiences and reasons for trying to learn a new language.
