Carolina CO#3

For my last class observation, I sat in on a level 3 listening class. This class was predominetly  Abrabic speakers who were in pursuit of their masters in America. I really enjoyed watching this class and seeing the interaction between the teacher and his students. He made it very student centered and the students responded very well to his exercises. To begin with, he gave linguistic support in the form of a transcript of the story that he was going to be playing. After that he made sure the vocabulary that was unfamiliar to the class was covered before he played the story. Once that was done, the class listened to the story and actively took notes. This is a technique they practice often for the TOFEL. After the listening activity was done the class discussed the story and did a vocabulary matching activity with a partner. The teacher made sure to have more linguistic support, in the form of charts, to display the statics the article discussed. The students responded well to these techniques and got a lot out of the class.
