Monday June 15 I had my last tutoring session with David. His mother said we just had to do 2 pages of vocabulary and then we could play cards the rest of the time. I helped him with his vocabulary by pointing out words within the word. For example, the word laborer. I had him tell me what labor meant and then had him choose one of the choices from the list based on the word labor. I did the same with publicity. This seemed to work better. Most of the words he was very unfamiliar with so I had to explain a lot of them. This went rather quickly and then we played a few card games together. After Katie and Matthew joined us and we played together. I really enjoyed tutoring David this semester. I learned a lot on how to motivate him gradually to read and he made a lot of progress. I hope I was able to make reading and math at least a little bit more fun for him.
