Kyle TS #13

David and I got together last Wednesday and his mother brought back the book that him and I started reading the week before. We started the session simply by talking about movies, what he did for the past week that I hadn't seen him and I asked if we were going to work on math problems at the beginning like we did last time Instead of math, we played a card game called Mad Gab. While seemingly simple, its an excellent practice of one's listening skills. The game asks you to guess a phrase (such as a movie, TV show, common saying, song, etc.) and uses other words whose combined sounds create the phrase. I wouldn't say he had a difficult time with the game, but it's certainly a unique game to play. Every time I would say the words out loud he automatically assumed that I already knew the answer, but that's just part of the game. We spent the next half an hour working on reading more of the Holes chapters and asking him comprehension questions along the way. I assigned him four chapters of reading to do for homework and the chapters are actually quite short so I'm hoping he will actually read them considering there's an entire week of time between our sessions. I told him I would bring him candy for tomorrow's session if he follows through with the homework.
