My second to last tutoring session with Nayun, we took it a little easier than normal this time. We truly have been able to keep a conversation going between the two of us for well over an hour if we had too. I realized that Nayun doesn't respond well to your typical greetings, saying how are you, or how was your day or what did you do today. She hasn't really since the beginning of our tutoring sessions so I have decided I need to focus more on having her work on responses for those questions. We read a few books that day, and I spent a little more time on asking her to repeat back to me what happened in the story. Typically going page by page, even sentence by sentence sometime. Nayun really is a treat to work with, and her willingness to learn is much appreciated. I think her father really appreciates the opportunity as well.
