O'Neill TS # 14
On June the 13th I met with my child tutee Rina Oh, who I tutored alongside her sister Zoe. Zoe was was Catherine's child tutee. I was thankful to teach Zoe as well because when I tutor both of them, Zoe makes sure her sister stays on task. Rina is a sweet child, but is very good at getting her own way. She is also a child which you cannot push too hard to focus, otherwise she shuts down and will no longer participate. This session I could not find the reading I printed out for them for the life of me, so when I got to their home, her mother and I decided on what they would do. We decided that they would read an animal book and write about it. So we picked up the encyclopedia on animals and chose the ones that interested us the most, then we would read about them. Once we were done reading, I had the girls write why they chose their favorite animal and a fact they learned about them from the reading. I noticed that every now and then Rina would lose focus, so I decided that after they wrote about their favorite animals they would make a drawing of it. They also made me promise that next session I would come back with a drawing of a dolphin.
