Shanti TS#16
Today, June 24, I had my last tutoring session with DJ. I began like always with asking him about his weekend. He told me that he went shopping for more glasses. DJ told me that a new eye glasses place had opened up near his house and they were having a sale for $10 for a pair of glasses. He then wanted to talk more about the MERS spread. He told me that the number of infected "goes down". I told him that the correct phrase was "went down". He also told me that 6000 people were isolated due to MERS. DJ had a little more difficulty getting his thoughts across this time. He stumbled a little but was able to say what he wanted in the end. I've learned that for DJ to understand me better I should speak very slow and pronounce ever word that I say very clearly. I have been using this method of monitoring my speech rate more and more lately. I find it difficult but it gets easier each time I speak to him. Overall it was a really good session. I have enjoyed tutoring DJ and have learned a lot about speaking slower and clearer. I also learned to monitor the words I use while speaking to him. I'm glad I had the chance to learn so much from these tutoring sessions.
