Wednesday June 10, 2015 - Today we met at my house again for out tutoring session. Nedal is preparing to take the IELTS exam down in Tampa this weekend, so I wanted to review some of the material that he will see on the test. I have noticed that Nedal has a tendency to write in incomplete sentences, so we worked together reviewing the necessary components of a complete sentence. I began by explaining the subject+verb+object formula and offering a number of example sentences. Then, I had Nedal write five sentences following the outlined formula. Together, we reviewed his sentences, making corrections and explaining those corrections as we went. We repeated this process with another five sentences. Nedal understood the concept and what is needed to make a complete sentence, but he still made a few mistakes regarding subject/verb agreement. Next session, we will most likely do a recap of today's lesson and maybe focus on subject/verb agreement.
