Kyle CP #5

Ebru, Colleen, and I got to hang out again and we went to Panera on BlairStone a little closer to Ebru's house. We had a pretty interesting conversation about how Ebru's son speaks and how sometimes he teases her about her accent. She showed me a video of him speaking and she even asked me how the laws worked in Florida related to when he would be able to get his driver's license. We also talked about Ebru's other son and her difficulties with raising him sometimes. Colleen showed up about half an hour into our session together and we all go to talking about how our day way. Ebru continues to impress me with her English and she said that one of her teachers once told her that it seems like she translates her thoughts while she's speaking from Turkish to English and it's obvious in her speech rate, though I disagree. Every once in a while we have to correct her English and tell her how to phrase things differently, but it's quite rare. We discussed Colleen's new class that she'll be attending in Colorado, and I talked to them about my applications for TEFL opportunities in Spain.
