I met with Soud Alazemi at the Starbucks on Tennessee St. We went for a walk to the the Mexican restaurant down the street to get a late lunch. Soud is a Group 2 CIES student and says that he arrived in Tallahassee from Qatar around 8 months ago. Because this was our first time meeting, we kept the conversation very jovial. I learned that Soud lives with English speaking roommates, but they are always busy and don't have time to speak English with him. I told him that I would love to converse with him in English, and that practice would help him to improve his speaking abilities, which he admitted could use improvement.
I learned a lot about Soud during our first meeting. For example, if he could have any car in the world, he would have a Bentley. I also learned that he has a girlfriend back in Qatar who he intends to marry, and he aspires to attend Southern Alabama University to study Petroleum Engineering.
