Kyle CO #3
Today I observed Ryan's level 3 Listening Class. Ryan introduced me to the class and assured them that I was not in fact there to critique their abilities in any way and that they should not feel uncomfortable by my presence. Though, I don't think they felt that way at all. Ryan began the class by welcoming the class back from the weekend and to their last week of class. He said they had a busy week ahead of them and that it's important for them to be attentive and responsive if they want to move up to the level 4 listening class next session. Ryan first allowed the students ten minutes to study for their vocabulary test the following day and made sure they used their time efficiently by giving them different ways to study with a partner. They then listened to a recording about the Voyager, took notes, and were assigned a summary and filling out the 5 W's and How worksheet with partners. I didn't participate much in the class, but it was interesting to see how listening classes are combined with writing skills and even listening classes use group activities.
