Lane TS #13
On June 11th, I conducted another tutoring session with Jun-suk over Skype in South Korea. During this session we continued our discussion of Korean history and even went a little more in depth. Although I knew I couldn't guide him in the reading of it, I suggested that he read the book that the historical drama was based on (as I had looked it up and researched the situation in preparation for this tutoring session). That was how I learned that Jun is actually great, great, great-to the nth descendant of the writer of that book (whose name is actually Ryu Seong-ryong). Therefore the first half of our session was productive and engaging; however, things began to deteriorate, as the reading lesson I had prepared seemed not to interest Jun, and I didn't want to push him. Therefore, we began a search of the internet for videos to watch and ended up watching and discussing video gameplay videos. Although I was concerned that this wasn't educational enough, the way that it made Jun light up convinced me that it was a good and productive topic of English conversation practice.
