This tutoring session with Kwon went very well. When we met, it was the first day of the new session. He had moved up group levels in every aspect except speaking. We have been focusing on speaking throughout the past couple of sessions and it worked a little. He moved up in levels but not groups. We talked a little but about everyday situations and how he can handle them. Kwon brought up poetry and comparison and contrast statements. I explained similes and metaphors to him, those are essential when reading poems. He was able to grasp them and hopefully able to use and understand them when he comes across some. Kwon is from Korea and has a had time with pronouncing his l’s and r’s. We did a couple exercises and I used minimal pairs and repeat after me to show Kwon the differences in pronunciation. I will meet up with Kwon one last tutoring session. Im sure we will keep in touch though.
