Lane TS #16
My final tutoring session with Ki Woong took place in Books a Million on Monday, June 22nd at 4 PM. This tutoring session involved no conversation partner portion, and we immediately began the work of proofreading and editing one of his papers. This time I began trying to implement the practice of "teaching self editing" that I have recently read about in the TEFL 200 class. This attempt went over with modest success, since Ki Woong very quickly began to pick up on the patterns of errors in his paper and could soon make the corrections almost immediately after seeing them, without my input. This is ideal since I won't always be there to teach him to edit his papers; therefore, this kind of learned skill is the essence of what tutoring should accomplish. To my surprise, the tutoring session extended to upwards of an hour and a half with regards to time. Overall I think that our encounters were educational and informative on both sides, and I am happy with the development we both have made over the course of the semester.
