Miles TS#9

Tuesday June 9, 2015 - Today, Nedal came to my house, and we worked again in my living room. The topic for today's tutoring session was Nedal's class presentation on his home country of Jordan. I helped by explaining the assignment to him as well as teaching him about the conditional sentence form. I suppose the main point of his presentation was "if his teacher ever travels to Jordan, what places within should he or she visit?" I focused on having Nedal use descriptive adjectives to convince his professor to visit these three places: Aqaba Beach, King Hussein Park, and Petra. I began by having Nedal explain to me, as if I were his teacher, what is so special about these places and why I should visit them. I encouraged him to be as descriptive and detailed as possible in his verbal explanation of the locations because he will need to do the same in his presentation. Nedal was able to use a few of the adjectives that we covered in a previous tutoring session, so I know that he is learning and benefiting from the tutoring. I feel like this session was especially beneficial for Nedal because he wants to improve his English speaking skills, and I had him describing each of these Jordanian attractions to me as I  corrected any grammar and pronunciation errors.
