O'Neill TS # 10
I met with Hamoud on June 12th at the All Saints cafe. We initially planned on meeting at the Black Dog cafe, but it's too far for Hamoud. Anyways, we discussed the IELTS exam and how he felt after taking it. He told me this time he felt much more confident and was looking forward to his results the following weekend. This session I had a handout on the Impressionistic art period I had him read. At first we were reading through it quickly, but he was having comprehension difficulty so we had to slow down and take it line by line. I made sure he would find the answers to any questions he had regarding comprehension, especially with the meaning of words. We stressed on context clues and searched around the surrounding words to find meaning. At first he didn't quite understand what we were doing, but after practice, quickly realized the benefits of such practice.
