Today I met with Zoe at her house. I was pleasantly surprised; Colleen had scheduled her meeting with Zoe's sister, Rina, at the same time. Zoe's mother thought it would be a good idea for us to co-tutor Rina and Zoe together. It was so much fun working together with Colleen and Rina. I thought it was an excellent dynamic. Colleen brought two articles, one on Gustav Klimt, and another on Renaissance Art. Just as I did, Colleen noticed the two sisters are very interested in art. Their study room is filled with pictures of classic art works taped along the walls.
To gage their interest, I asked them to describe how they feel about art, specifically Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss". It's one of the many print-outs they have hanging in their room. Zoe and Rina were so excited to read aloud, and share their reflections on the readings. Afterward, we read a short paragraph on the Renaissance Movement. Then. they were asked to select two works of art from the packet provided, and give a short presentation. They chose da Vinci's "The Mona Lisa" and a drawing of the skeleton. They were asked to work togheter to read the short description of each image. Afterward, they presented, simulating an "art talk". They gave us justification for why they love the images, and an interesting fact about each one.
I can't wait to work with Colleen again for tomorrow's topic on Edvard Munch!
