During
this session, my tutee wanted to work on two things: his test and his speech
for his presentation. My tutee had a “math” test that he needed clarification
on because the answers were marked wrong, but there were not any corrections,
such as the right answer for the each question. The test was about how much a
penny, nickel, dime, and quarter are worth. My tutee and I were confused about
the test because the images were very blurry and dispositional that we could
not tell what each coin was. So to save us both a headache, I found a penny,
nickel, dime, and quarter in order to show him the size of each coin and what
they should have looked like on his test. I also explained to him the value of
each coin, which he repeated several times. As for his speech, my tutee had interviewed
a few people and written down their responds, but he wrote down the responds as
if he was taking notes in class. In other words, he did not write full
sentences. Due to this, my tutee wanted to know how to report the responds using
full sentences. So, I taught him reported speech, such as he said/she said. While
he was writing his speech, I reminded him to use reported speech when quoting his
interviewees’ words. All in all, I wish my tutee good luck on his presentation.
