O'Neill TS # 8
This Wednesday I tutored my adult tutee Hamound. We met at my house and started up on conversation. He had taken the ietls exam last weekend, so we discussed any difficulties he had experienced during the exam. He said this time he felt it was easier, which I was very happy for him. This session I bumped up my speech rate, since last time he understood Kyle so well, I realized I should speak at a normal rate. We officially started our session off by reviewing any questions he had from the last handout I had given him. It was on the greek prefixes and suffixes and latin roots. There were a few words he did not understand so we looked them up in the dictionary I brought with me. I showed him how to use it and he was delighted. He told me he will make sure to study it for the next two years. Afterwards he had some inquiries over pronunciation with words such as better and bitter, pat, bat, and bit, among others. We spent a great deal working on his pronunciation, which is what he likes best. I then gave him a worksheet for him to read at home, and when we meet next time we will review the questions and any questions he might have on it.
